The HFSE-30 was developed by Perry (2000) and consists of questions specifically designed to assess perceived self-efficacy of HF patients. The HFSE-30 queries participants on how sure they are about taking care of their HF-related self-care activities in five categories that make up the instrument’s subscales: taking medicine, following a low-salt diet, observing and reporting their symptoms, physical activity, and avoiding HF hospitalizations. Questions are answered on a 0 to 10 rating scale, proceeding from0 (doesn’t apply to me) to 1 (never can do), and 5 or 6 (maybe can do), through 10 (always can do).
