The HEIQ was developed as a user-friendly, relevant, and psychometrically sound instrument for the comprehensive evaluation of patient education programs, which can be applied across a broad range of chronic conditions. It includes eight independent dimensions: Positive and Active Engagement in Life; Health Directed Behavior; Skill and Technique Acquisition; Constructive Attitudes and Approaches; Self-Monitoring and Insight; Health Service Navigation; Social Integration and Support; and Emotional Wellbeing.
