The Impact of Weight on Quality of Life (IWQOL) is a 31-item, self-report, obesity-specific measure of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) that consists of a total score and scores on each of five scales--physical function, self-esteem, sexual life, public distress, and work--and that exhibits strong psychometric properties. It is a shorter version of the original 74 item scale. Scores for each scale are computed by summing scores on individual items using the following scale: l=never true, L-rarely true, 3=sometimes true, 4=often true, 5= always true. The possible score range for each scale is: general (31-155). Physical functioning (11-55), Work (7-39, public distress (5-35), Self-Esteem (7-35). Sexual Life (4-20), The public distress scale is also used as a scale for social support
