The IWQOL questionnaire assesses the effects of weight on various areas of life. Subscales: Health, SociaI/interpersonal, Work, Mobility, Self-Esteem, Sexual Life, Activities of Daily Living, and Comfort with Food. Scores for each scale were computed by summing scores on individual items using the following scale: l=never true, L-rarely true, 3=sometimes true, 4=often true, 5=always true. The possible score range for each scale is: Health (14-70). SocialAnterpersonal (11-55), Work (7-39, Mobility (10-50), Self-Esteem (10-50). Sexual Life (6-30), Activities of Daily Living (7-33, and Comfort with Food (9-45). With the exception of the Comfort with Food scale, the higher the score, the poorer the quality of life in that area.
