The EGS items were generated from the authors’ pilot study and from Weinberg's recommendations on goal-setting strategies and included items related to goal setting, self-monitoring, and problem solving. Participants rated 10 EGS items on a 5-point scale ranging from 1 (does not describe) to 5 (describes completely).
