The Benefit-Finding Scale was originally developed for women diagnosed with breast cancer but reworded for the present study with “diabetes” replacing “breast cancer.” The survey assesses potential benefits from being diagnosed with and treated for diabe-tes. Respondents note how much they agree or disagree with statements such as “having type 2 diabetes has taught me to be patient” and “. has led me to deal better with stress and problems. Scores range from 1 to 6, with lower scores denoting less of a problem or less distress
